After an extraction, it's important for a blood clot to form to stop the bleeding and begin the healing process. That's why your dentist will ask you to bite on a gauze pad for 30 to 45 minutes after an extraction.

Now that you have received your new denture(s), what can you expect from them? Your mouth is an ever-changing soft environment and your dentures are relatively hard and unyielding.

Fillings

It is normal the day of treatment to experience some general discomfort. Your jaw muscles may also be tired from opening. In most cases this will subside quickly and can be relieved with your normal over counter pain medication.

Your anesthesia will wear off in approximately 2 to 7 hours after the procedure. It is very important not to chew on the numb side (to prevent biting tongue, lip, etc.) until the anesthesia wears off.

It is normal for your gums to feel tender. We strongly recommend rinsing twice daily for two days with warm (not hot) salt water to speed-up healing and reduce tenderness.
